My interest in surfing started in 1970 when my brother and I brought a 10 foot fibreglass D fin plank, from a local Trash & Treasure market for $5. Since then I have made a number of foam boards, but have never received the satisfaction out of making foam boards as I do making timber boards.

I surf weekly and I‘m regularly asked about my boards out in the water, a lot of people don’t realise that a timber board can perform as well as any foam board.
Although I still ride foam boards, it’s always a joy to get back onto a wooden creation.

I started making wooden boards in 2005 and they certainly catch people’s attention, I find I am talking to more and more people about the concept of riding these types of boards.
